Spring Break Trip to Jackson Hill!

I am in love with Jackson Hill! It is about a two and half hour drive but it is a very pretty drive through the trees. I have so many memories of camping when I was kid and I am so glad that I found a place to give that to my kids. The only down side is that it did rain "Like a cow pissing on a flat rock"...yep my Grandfather said this to us when we were kids and I did not get the meaning until moving to Texas. I should also mention that it is not really camping per say...I tell the kids that because camping sounds so much cooler. They have several tiny little cabins. They fit two double beds and a bath. The cabins are old but remodeled and VERY CLEAN. There is a lodge where breakfast, lunch and dinner can be served if you want it. Terry is a wonderful cook! On Saturday night they had karaoke and the kids all sang. It was so much fun. I have a thing for classic rock any kind of rock music really (as long as it is clean). I have passed this down to my boys who are in love with Queen. Chase is also a huge Green Day fan so we just sat back and relaxed while they had the time of there lives.

There was a professional Bass fishing tournament held at the marina. Chase was paid five dollars to release the fish after they were weighted. The poor kid was cold and carrying wet, heavy bags of fish but he never stopped. I was so proud. It was really neat to watch 75 boats scrambling to get to the doc on time. Its pretty serious stuff the winner took home 2500 BUCKS! Now this is so Texas...

This is Brock just before dinner. We went in to shower (hot water another bonus) and Brock passed out. He was a bear at dinner for the first few minutes and then snapped out of it.

Of course this kid can't go anywhere with out a book! I think I might have to read this book this summer. He just finished the series and liked it so much that he is starting over. This is truly not my son.

Meet the Beaver! This place has a covered boat dock with slips to park the boats in. It is also a great place to take the boys fishing. Chase was walking by one the boat and I hear a splash! I spun around thinking someone had taken a dive and I was about to jump in the freeze cold water. Chase is running screaming at the top of his lungs "Beaver!Beaver! Beaver!" I of course could not quit laughing and I really thought there was no beaver. Well...yes there is a beaver. The owner think she has pups under the dock. Makes me laugh just thinking about it "BEAVER!" lol

Jenny's Sweat Shop!

I knew my sister was creative but I had no idea how creative. I told her I was not happy with my window treatment and I told her what I would like to have and off to the fabric store we went. It was nice that we could do a project together...well not really together as I would sew my thumbs together if I tried. She is a perfectionist so I had to leave it to her. I would iron a seam and she would just look at me like "Your kidding right?" It was so much fun. They turned out beautiful and every morning I look at them and smile. I think I need a different rod but I have no time to go look. The fabric is so bright and cheery, it really adds some color to my beige house! Later I will post the video I took of her singing Karaoke!...just kidding..maybe

A visit from Aunt Jenny

Wow it has been forever since I have blogged. It feels so good to get back into my rythym as I have been very very busy. The highligh of the month was a visit from my little sister Jenny. She is six years younger than me and since growing up we have not spent much time together. In fact I think that it has been a very very long time since I have spent more than a few days with a sibling. Our visits home are so crazy with the kids that spending time alone is not something we have done. It was great. We stayed close to home as I had a crazy week already scheduled and I was on my spring break but the kids were still in school. So I dragged Jenny to all of our weekly fun, school store, dropping the kids off at a school and the highlight of her week had to be when I volunteered her to serve cake at the PTO fundraiser! She was a good sport to say the least. It was great that she could come when the weather was nice and the Bluebonnets were blooming! We did manage to have some time out of the house. We went to Old Town Spring and then had a great night on the town. Chase told me I was hogging her so we hang at home for awhile. It was so hard to say goodbye to her.

WARNING: DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME! There was no one at the park and swinging on my stomach is something I loved to do as a little kid so we gave it a try. I learned a very important lesson...this is painful and should not be done post child bearing!
